As every site is unique, teams must deal with variable ground conditions, strict safety requirements and close coordination between multiple stakeholders.

In this context, site managers have long faced a major challenge: having access to measuring tools that are both reliable and fast, while still being comprehensive enough to meet on-site requirements.

It was with this in mind that Moasure established itself as a key ally on construction sites, particularly within Proludic’s Installation team.

A site manager at the heart of operations

Responsible for site supervision, Jacques Gautier, a site manager at Proludic, oversees projects from start to finish.

"I take care of everything: from client communication to sourcing and coordinating subcontractors,” he explains.

He is also responsible for checking slopes, surface areas and perimeters, particularly when the client has prepared the ground themselves.

“It’s a matter of safety. If a slope is done incorrectly or a surface is miscalculated, you can end up with drainage or installation issues.”

Before using Moasure, Jacques had to juggle several tools: a builder’s level, a tape measure and a laser distance meter, then spend a significant amount of time manually reworking calculations. These traditional tools also had major limitations: they could not capture curves or provide an overall, usable view of the terrain. The builder’s level, for example, was only useful for measuring slopes.

From hesitation to adoption

Moasure was initially discovered by Jacques’ manager, who then organised a short internal training session for the teams.

Jacques admits he had some reservations at first:

“At first, I was sceptical. I thought we’d lose time learning how to use it.”

However, practical testing on site quickly dispelled his doubts. By using the device on different projects, he realised just how intuitive it is.

“Within a month, I was completely comfortable with it. You just start with small projects, and after that, you never let it go."

Today, Jacques uses Moasure at least twice a week. He also helps train new site managers as well as Proludic’s sales teams.

“All our sales reps have one, but not everyone is using it to its full potential yet. That’s a shame, because it really saves time."

An indispensable tool on site

Moasure has many practical applications. When a client wants to replace an existing play structure or add a new one, the tool allows teams to quickly measure the available surface area and surrounding slopes, ensuring the installation complies with safety standards. If a playground has already been measured, it is also possible to add only the new area as a layer directly into an existing measurement file, even if it was created several months or years earlier.

“Last week, we had a slide installed on a slope. The client wanted to add a second one. I measured the slopes and elevation changes with Moasure, sent the data directly to the design office via the app, and the technical teams were able to prepare a quote very quickly.”

Moasure is also used to calculate impact-absorbing soft flooring areas, which are often complex due to the shapes and curves found in playgrounds.

“I measure the entire surface in fifteen minutes, compared to an hour before. On one project, I was even able to tell the client that there were three extra square metres compared to what was expected.”

This level of accuracy not only helps anticipate the required quantities more effectively, but also avoids visible corrections at the end of a project if material runs short.

The time savings and improved reliability have a direct impact on costs, scheduling and team peace of mind. Having precise measurements from the outset also helps teams avoid last-minute adjustments, particularly when installing soft flooring.

A new way of collaborating with the design office

With Moasure, site managers can export their measurements as DWG or PDF files, which can be used directly by the design office.

“Before, we’d spend an hour and a half taking measurements by hand and recalculating everything. Now, I just send the plan and it’s ready.”

Technical teams receive reliable data from the outset, with no need for re-entry or approximation. Communication is smoother, dimensional errors are significantly reduced and processing times are much shorter.

Moasure also allows teams to work with layers, making it easy to add new areas to an existing project, even several months after the initial measurements.
